In all of our locations, our employees believe in working in a safe environment
Design Mechanical Inc. focuses company-wide on incident prevention, not just OSHA compliance. Our safety culture allows us to be a part of safety-conscious teams and projects throughout the Rocky Mountain region. Safety is a core value that is always in the hearts and minds of our workers and management.
Our philosophy is to create an incident-free environment through leadership, communication, motivation and accountability. By fostering an attitude of safety consciousness instead of simply reacting to incidents, our key leaders develop a “spirit” of accident prevention. This, in turn, results in a dramatic reduction of incidents.
All of our employees receive comprehensive training and certification through our H.I.T.S. (High Intensity Training for Safety) program. Managers and supervisors go on to receive even more in-depth safety training through the OSHA 30-hour course. In addition, we provide our employees with all of the safety equipment, tools and additional training they need to perform their work safely. We strictly adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations. But we go even further—our goal is to eliminate all risks, unsafe acts, and conditions that could possibly cause damage or personal injury.
Design Mechanical Inc. uses the Think 5 x 5 approach to safety, quality and production, an exceptional technique taught to all employees to ensure that they think and work safely. Our Think 5 x 5 safety initiative enhances the company culture and encourages employees to "Take 5 seconds and 5 steps back" to evaluate whether their surroundings represent a safe work environment.
We believe our expectation of zero incidents and injuries is absolutely achievable. Our results back this up: we consistently have a safety performance far exceeding the HVAC industry average. We benchmark and track safety in many areas, including workplace safety, automobile operation and general liability. Our “Safety Performance Ranking” provides continuous feedback and drives improvement in processes and results.
The focus on safety at ALL levels has significantly shaped the safety culture of our company. Employees at every level consistently create motivation for positive change in order to combat complacency. We believe safety has less to do with rulebooks and more to do with what is in the minds of our workers and the hearts of our management.
The Safety Leadership Team at Design Mechanical Inc. is committed to making Design Mechanical the leader in safety within the mechanical industry in the Rocky Mountain region.
